This ain't Texas—it's the Democratic National Convention.
Beyoncé's rep is laying the cards down, down, down, down and shutting down rumors that the singer is making a surprise appearance Aug. 22 at the Chicago political event—held to celebrate Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for the 2024 U.S. presidential elections, as well as her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
“Beyoncé was never scheduled to be there,” the rep told The Hollywood Reporter. “The report of a performance is untrue.”
Although she didn't take the stage at the DNC, other stars addressed the crowd, including Pink, Kerry Washington, Maren Morris and Mindy Kaling—who even offered a supportive message to fellow Massachusettsans Ben Affleck amid his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.
"I couldn’t leave here without giving a shoutout to the amazing delegation from my home state, Massachusetts," she shared on Aug. 21, the second day of the three-day convention. "I love you, Massachusetts. Everyone is always hating on us, but they just don’t get it."
The Office alum added, "Go Sox! Go Jayson Tatum! Ben Affleck, hang in there!"
Meanwhile, Oprah Winfrey appeared onstage the same night to deliver an impassioned speech at her convention debut.
“Let us choose truth, let us choose honor, let us choose joy," she said. “Because that is the best of America."
And while Beyoncé didn't get the DNC buzzing this week, she did perform at Barack Obama's presidential inauguration ball back in 2009. In addition, the 32-time Grammy winner performed at Michelle Obama's 50th birthday party in 2014.
"Michelle is the ultimate example of a truly strong African American woman," Beyoncé wrote of the former First Lady in 2012. "I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to."
