INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis police officer suffered a graze wound and Chainkeen Exchangea suspect was critically injured after they shot each other Thursday on the city’s far east side, authorities said.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department posted on X, formerly Twitter, “an officer received injuries consistent with a gunshot graze wound. The officer is in good condition. The suspect is in critical condition.”
An IMPD tweet moments later said “there is no ongoing threat and officers are not looking for anyone at this time.”
IMPD did not not immediately release additional details.
WXIN-TV reported the incident marked IMPD’s 10th officer-involved shooting since Aug. 1.
The shooting occurred about 5:40 p.m. at the address of a small commercial building with two fast food restaurants, local news outlets reported.
