Tori Spelling is thankful she and Shannen Doherty got the opportunity to reconnect.
The So Notorious alum shared insight into her final conversation with her Beverly Hills, 90210 costar, who died July 13 at age 53 after battling cancer for years.
“I’ve had a lot of death in my life," Tori, 51, told fellow 90210 alum Jennie Garth, 52, on the July 22 episode of their podcast 9021OMG. "I have a lot of regrets that I didn’t have that time to have a second chance to get past stuff from the past and look at all the good things and really talk it out and have that last conversation."
The actress, who played Donna Martin alongside Shannen's Brenda Walsh on the '90s drama series, continued, "and I feel like she and I had that, and I’m super grateful for that.”
Jennie, who played Brenda's frenemy Kelly Taylor, said that her thoughts turned to Tori after their costar's death.
"How happy you must have been to have that time with her and to have that reconnection on a deeper level, as both of you have matured and grown and learned so much," the What I Like About You star said, "I wished that I had had that opportunity because I didn't really get to sit down and have a heartfelt conversation with her recently. But I was very glad that you did.”
In April, Tori and Shannen appeared on each other’s podcasts and reminisced about working together on the hit Fox drama.
"I think you and I, for two seasons, did a lot of laughing," Shannen said on her podcast Let’s Be Clear. "Until we didn't. Because of boyfriends."
Tori responded, "Fair. A lot of laughing."
As Shannen put it, "We were best friends. Sisters."
On Tori’s MisPELLING podcast, the two continued to delve into their shared past and the life lessons they learned, including one demonstrated by Shannen, who left 90210 after the first four seasons amid rumored tensions on set.
“Thirty years ago, what I saw was someone giving their opinion and you were shamed for it, no, and ruined for it,” Tori said. “We look up to the strong females in our lives, and you were that for me, and seeing that that was hard.”
Shannen advised Tori to always speak her mind and not apologize. “Giving your opinion is your god given right,” she said. “Maybe somebody doesn't like it, maybe your producer doesn't like it, maybe you know your mom doesn't like it, maybe you're soon to be ex-husband doesn't like it, but it's your opinion, therefore it's valid.
She continued, "And by you saying ‘I'm sorry’ right afterwards, you literally are taking away your taking your own validation away, which is crazy.”
Shannen further praised Tori—who is mom to five kids with estranged husband Dean McDermott—over her personal and professional accomplishments. "It's not like people don't see how creative you are," she said. "You've managed to stay in the limelight. You've managed to keep on earning money, take care of your kids, work constantly while raising five children."
She continued, "Somebody like you has to have an opinion, so just give it. Stop saying sorry.”

"We bonded through a shared battle and a desire to help other women," she continued. "Looking back on the last text she sent me just a couple months ago, she asked how I was doing and if she could do anything for me… true to form, Shannen was offering her support even though she was in the final stage of fighting this horrific disease."
